Sustainability Commitment

ICMS is conscious of the role it plays in assisting our clients to achieve their sustainability goals

Our commitment to sustainability

Aligns with the Commonwealth’s Sustainable Procurement Guides and National Waste Policy Action Plan, recognising the impact event management services play in achieving sustainability objectives.

As a member of the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) ICMS:

  • adhere to the IAPCO Code of Sustainability Practise that requires its ‘members to observe and adhere to any and all legislative requirements pertaining to environmental performance in the countries in which they operate’.
  • were one of the first members to sign the Plastics Pledge against single use plastics related to SDG Goal 14: Life below water. We committed to not using plastic name badge holders for our conferences. Instead, we use a paper alternative that ‘sticks’ onto itself to form the name badge. The badge is completely recyclable.

IAPCO membership alignment

As an IAPCO member we also align with the following resources:

  • IAPCO Sustainable Meetings Resource Guide: A framework for implementing sustainable practices across all stages of event planning and execution.

  • Sustainable Meetings Education: Educational resources and tools for members to learn and implement sustainable practices in their work.

  • Partnership with the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative (GTPI): IAPCO partnered with GTPI to reduce plastic waste in events.

United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG)

We have been working with all our clients to use the UNSDG as a guide for their sustainability program, working with clients to ascertain the most relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for their conferences. As part of our proposal, ICMS will integrate sustainability practices throughout our services and will focus on the following key areas:

  • Carbon Offsetting: While prioritising emissions reduction, we acknowledge unavoidable residual emissions. To counteract these, we offer reputable carbon offset programs, supporting reforestation and renewable energy initiatives.
  • Sustainable Event Practices: Our team implements: waste reduction and recycling programs; sustainable catering options; eco-friendly transportation options and water conservation initiatives.

Other sustainable practices

Other sustainable practices ICMS continue to implement for all conferences:

  • Digital Event Management

  • Virtual Attendance Options: In addition to physical attendance, offering virtual attendance options for participants who may prefer to reduce their carbon footprint by participating remotely. Our advanced OnAIR technology ensures a seamless and engaging virtual experience for remote attendees, further contributing to emission reduction.

  • Venue Management and Sustainable Logistics – we work with venues to align to their sustainability programs.

  • Supplier sustainable logistics - We will collaborate with local suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability, ensuring that the event minimises its ecological footprint.
