The program for the 8^th WPCCID has been formulated to meet the needs of Infectious Disease Physicians, Clinical Microbiologists and Laboratory Scientists. The topics to be covered include antimicrobial resistance, vaccines, infection control, antimicrobial pharmacodynamics, information technology, nosocomial infections, and infectious diseases such as malaria, melioidosis, MRSA, VRE, Group A Streptococci, salmonella, meningococcal disease, tuberculosis, clostridial infections, sexually transmitted diseases, infections in pregnancy, and implant associated infections. In addition there will be an update on mycology. Aspects of viral infections such as HIV, HBV, HCV and influenza will also be presented. The meeting will consist of symposia, plenary sessions, proffered papers and poster presentations.
