Purpose designed to cater for large international and national congresses and exhibitions, the Melbourne Convention Centre has state of the art facilities on offer. It is conveniently located on the banks of the Yarra River in the Southbank district close to the Crown Entertainment Complex and the city centre. An exciting area of Melbourne to be located in and within walking distance of all Congress hotels, it is well serviced by public transport.

Social Programme

We recognise that leisure time and socialising should be also be a rewarding part of any Congress with the opportunity to renew old friendships and make new ones. With this in mind, there will be an extensive social programme for the enjoyment of delegates and accompanying persons alike. An array of optional tours of both Victoria and the surrounding states will also be on offer.

The Congress

The IWRA World Congress is a triennial event designed specifically to meet the organisational requirements of the Association and professional needs of its members.

The Congress will offer a number of activities to meet each requirement including:

  • Meeting of the Executive Board of the IWRA
  • Meeting of the General Assembly of IWRA
  • Technical Meetings of the Congress
  • Special sessions, workshops, short courses and poster presentations
  • Exhibits and documentation
  • Study tours in surrounding states and territories
  • Accompanying persons' programme in the Victorian region
  • Social and cultural events

  • Focus Sessions

Suggestions are invited for the organisation of Focus Sessions during the Congress. As far as possible, these will be programmed concurrently during the final 4.30pm - 6.30pm time slot on each of the four days. This suggests an overall total of 12 Focus Sessions.
