Opened by the Deputy Premier and Minister for Health, the Hon. John Thwaites MP.The Department of Human Services is hosting a National Privacy Conference - Privacy Make It Your Business, to be held in Melbourne on 26/27 November 2001. The conference will give you the latest interesting and practical information on privacy at a time when your organisation will be affected by recently enacted Federal and Victorian privacy statutes and anticipated Victorian Health Privacy Legislation. The program has been designed to provide current relevant information and realistic compliance strategies, and will include: · Presentations on key issues such as privacy and healthcare, privacy and law enforcement, privacy and Freedom Of Information, privacy and ehealth, privacy in the workplace, and privacy in Victorian business. · Keynote addresses from international jurisdictions regarding their latest privacy activities · Implementing privacy - change management processes that work · Australian experiences of implementing privacy legislation · Privacy Showcase - success stories and challenges overcome by Australian organisations (with question and answer sessions) · National and state legislation specific information sessions · Implementation Workshops
Call for Abstracts
Word Length: 300 wordsShowcase your privacy successes. Conference delegates are invited to make presentations outlining their privacy implementation successes and describing the particular challenges of their industry or organisation. Individuals or organisations wishing to present a paper are requested to submit an Abstract to the Conference Secretariat no later than Wednesday 1 August 2001. The Program Committee welcomes abstracts that relate to the development and implementation of privacy policy or privacy legislation compliance programs in large and small, public and private organisations, as the foundation of a 15-minute presentation followed by a panel session for questions and answers. Authors should ensure abstracts include the following information: 1. Organisational description identifying specific industry characteristics. 2. Specific privacy risks, obstacles and challenges related to that particular industry or organisation. 3. Identification of key risks and subsequent challenges. 4. Listing of specific activities and processes. 5. Outcome/s of processes. Please note that you should submit your Abstract on-line on this site. An automatic electronic acknowledgment receipt will be sent to you after submission which will allow the text of the Abstract to be edited up to, and no later, than the closing date for submissions. No changes will be possible after submissions close on Wednesday 1 August 2001.
