4 W Components in Development Paradigm: Relooking at Social Work Education in 21st Century
In 21st century, 4 Ws-Water, Work, Waste and Women-will predominantly be issues for everybody’s concern, Among natural resources, Water-its availability, accessibility and affordability-will become the crucial question for all development oriented approaches. The Work (employment) in central issue as it is being affected in wake of global economy, technological advancement and changing market priorities. Waste of all kind will puzzle the world as far as its management, recycling and re use is concerned. Across these three major issues, Women will be pivot point as it will be altering gender equation, structural setting, political processes, and economic decisions. Supported by secondary data and other available researches on the subject, it has been argued that social work profession needs to mould itself to suit societal demands which are arising from influencing factors and interactive forces related to these 4 W. Hence there is need to redefine social work education at different level in developing countries specially in south-east Asia.
