Issues Facing South Australian Indigenous Families
The presenters,Aboriginal Health Workers from Child and Youth Health, will introduce a discussion the many difficult issues facing indigenous famlies as they strive to raise their young children in the South Australian community. During the session the presenters will outline their role within the agency. This includes direct service provision, as networkers with other services and through the Aboriginal community, as advisors on the relevance and use of agency programs to better meet the needs of indigenous communites, and in developing and introducing innovative programs as alternatives. They will also present their ideas and work with participants to have them think about how other professionals, including social work, can better understand and contribute to work with the indigenous community as a whole and particular groups within, in relation to the issues.
