Football, Meat Pies, Kangaroos and Holden Cars; Rethinking Models for Civic Engagement by Young Males
This paper aims to explore notions of civic engagement as they apply to working with young people, and particularly young males, by providing an overview of relevant literature and comparing traditional models of community development with an exploration of current practice models for civic engagement related to sport, food, the environment and mechanics. The paper will generate a broader and more inclusive definition of civic engagement, and include an understanding of what young people gain from being civically engaged.
