Comparison of Homeless Youth in Australia and Japan
Currently, an increase in the number of homeless youth is a major issue over the world, particularly in Western industrialized countries. Although a lot of studies about homeless youth in Australia have done, there are few studies in Japan at the moment. This paper reports on a comparative study of homeless youth policy in Australia and Japan, with particular attention to the influence of cultural values and beliefs on how social issues are constructed and, in turn, on the policy development process. Preliminary findings from interviews with homeless young people and parents in both Australia and Japan will also be presented.
