Risk and Resilience in Working with Trauma
Many occupations involve frontline trauma work. Many social workers are involved in such work themselves, or provide the debriefing and support to those working in these occupations. An understanding of the risk and protective factors for workers in trauma-related work is vital. This paper will present selected findings from a major study of stress and resilience experiences amongst staff of the Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board, Melbourne. Themes relating to resilience-focussed research and practice will be presented.
