Building Capacity from a Distance: Rural Management Success
Rural communities experience significant challenges in accessing services taken for granted by many of their urban counterparts. Organisational governance, management and human resources are key issues impacting on the accessibility and delivery of rural services. This paper aims to build awareness of strategies to recruit, support and retain professionals in rural settings. The challenges for rural organisations and professionals will be explored, along with the impact on local communities. Governance and management processes that reflect the Mission and values of the organisation, and build the capacity of organisations, staff and the community will be examined.
