As the environmental and human health effects of the globalisation of economies, trade, and communication become clearer so does the need for urgent action on the part of a wide range of individuals and organisations. If we are to succeed in promoting health it is even more vital that health promotion practitioners across the globe are well prepared to influence public policy and practice at global, regional, national and local levels. What are the implications for the practice of health promotion practitioners and our organisations? What are the implications for communities and other institutions and sectors? What actions are being taken at global level? What more can be done in our Region?Following an introductory presentation on key issues the seminar will be an opportunity for participants to discuss the implications for health promotion practitioners and to recommend action on the part of the key stakeholders, including, for example, policy-makers, training institutions, community organisations and health organisations.
