Mercer Lecture

Professor McGown will briefly discuss Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil Systems and the design approaches in use, before presenting discussion on the need to re-assess our present approaches, with a view to producing safe but less conservative (and therefore less expensive) designs. Suggestions are presented for revised approach to parameter selection and design approach.
