  • Dean Jamison

    Dean Jamison is a Professor of Public Health at the University of California, Los Angeles. He concurrently serves as Fellow of the Fogarty International Centre at the US National Institutes of Health. Professor Jamison was previously Head of Health, Nutrition and Population at the World Bank where he was lead author for the Bank's 1993 World Development Report. His research interests span economic theory, public health and education and he is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the US National Academy of Sciences where he chairs the Institute's Board on Global Health.


    Gavin Andrews

    Gavin Andrews is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of New South Wales at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney. His clinical expertise is in Anxiety Disorders, his research expertise is in Epidemiology. He was central to the Australian National Mental Health Survey and the subsequent costing studies. Always interested in the problems of service delivery he is currently using survey data, costing data, clinical practice guidelines and the views of experts to construct a model of an ideal mental health service that will allow the cost and staffing implications to be explored.


    Alan Lopez

    Alan Lopez is Professor of Medical Statistics and Population Health at The University of Queensland and a Consultant to the World Health Organisation. Prior to joining the University he worked at the World Health Organisation in Geneva for 22 years where he was Manager of WHO's Program on Substance Abuse (1996-98), Director of the Epidemiology and Burden of Disease Unit (1999-2001) and Senior Science Advisor to the Director-General (2002). His research interests are in the analysis of mortality data, burden of disease methods and applications, particularly in developing countries and he is co-author of the seminal Global Burden of Disease Study.


    Tony Jorm

    Tony Jorm is a Professorial Fellow at the ORYGEN Research Centre of the University of Melbourne. His research has focused on the epidemiology of mental disorders and on public knowledge and beliefs about mental disorders. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and a member of the Research Committees of both the National Health and Medical Research Council and the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund. He is listed in ISI HighlyCited.com as one of the most cited researchers in
    Psychology/Psychiatry of the past 20 years.


    Ronald Manderscheid

    Ronald Manderscheid is Chief, Survey and Analysis Branch, for the US Center for Mental Health Services. He has served as NIMH's Chief, Statistical Research Branch, where he led the implementation of the US National Reporting System and the Mental Health Statistics Improvement Program; as Policy Advisor on US National Health Care Reform and was a member of the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Work Group of the President's Task Force on Health Care Reform. He is the Principal Editor of Mental Health, United States and has been an editor of this publication since it's inception in 1983. Dr Manderscheid has authored numerous scientifi c and professional publications and in 1997 provided the international commentary on the implementation of the First Australian Mental Health Plan.


    Mike Slade

    Mike Slade is a UK Medical Research Council Clinician Scientist Fellow, Senior Lecturer in the Health Services Research Department at the Institute of Psychiatry in London, and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in rehabilitation with South London and Maudsley Mental Health NHS Trust. His main research interests are outcome-focussed mental health services, user involvement in and influence on mental health services, staff-patient agreement on need, and contributing to the development of clinically useable outcome measures, including the Camberwell Assessment of Need and the Threshold Assessment Grid.

    CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
    Cancellations must be advised in writing to the Meeting Secretariat.

    Cancellations received up to Monday, 30 May 2005 will receive a refund of registration fees, less an administrative charge of $100.00. Registration fee refunds for cancellations received after this date will be at the discretion of the Organising Committee. Eligible refunds will be issued after the conclusion of the meeting. Registrations are transferable to a colleague at any time prior to the meeting provided the Meeting Secretariat is advised in writing.
