The Year 2000 National conference of the Early Childhood Intervention Australia Inc will be addressing a range of professional issues relevant to early childhood intervention including: 1. Positive behavioural support: nonaversive practices that involve the teaching of alternative behaviours and the changing of environmental arrangements in order to reduce problem behaviour of young children with special needs. 2. Family-oriented support: practices that maximise family participation and decision-making in the early childhood intervention process. 3. Support for quality management: quality practice in leadership and management to support generic and specialist services that promote service provision, parent involvement and contemporary practices. 4. Supporting generic services: practices that strengthen childcare and preschool services and advocacy campaigns influencing political priorities for families with young children with special needs.
