ISBD President's Message
 As president of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders, I wish to extend a most enthusiastic and warm welcome to participants. This is a very special occasion for the ISBD as it is the first ISBD Regional Group Conference to be held outside of the United States and we are very pleased to be able to offer you the spectacular venue of Sydney, Australia.The local organizing committee has labored mightily to make this meeting a most important occasion for both international participants and those in the Pacific Rim. As a former Australian and resident of Sydney, I want to assure visitors that they will be visiting one of the most beautiful cities in the world offering diverse recreational activities and a distinctive availability of restaurants offering world-class cuisine. For all from the northern hemisphere, we can guarantee superb warm weather. The scientific program will offer presentations by leading authorities from around the world. The integration of these scientists with local authorities will produce important developmental bridges between all the participants. We assure you of a most rewarding and enjoyable meeting.

 It's my great pleasure to invite you to the International Society for Bipolar Disorders Regional Group Conference to be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre from the 5 - 7 February 2004.The theme for this the first ISBD Regional Group Conference to take place in the Pacific Rim is "Improving Patient Outcomes." We anticipate that everyone involved in this conference will be excited by the program and contribute to what will be a very successful meeting. The program for the ISBD Regional Group Conference will highlight new developments in bipolar disorders presented by internationally distinguished speakers and include two lunchtime Satellite Symposia. Also included in the program is a performance of a new dramatic stage play on Dr Cade by Neil Cole. The Conference Dinner will be held at the magical harbourside location of The Taronga Zoo Conference Centre. Guests will arrive at the venue following a Sydney Harbour Cruise. There is so much to do and see in this truly beautiful city. You will be charmed by Sydney's summer sunshine and the choices of activities to fill your spare time. We look forward to welcoming you to Sydney in February 2004.
