Invitation to the 33rd Annual Scientific Meeting for ASUM 2003
Perth, Western Australia is the venue for ASUM 2003 and the Organising Committee encourages you to come West!The Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine is the premier meeting for those involved in all aspects of ultrasound within our region. This meeting represents the opportunity for our multidisciplinary membership to meet, share knowledge and experiences and learn in a friendly environment of companionship.
ASUM 2003 will offer something for everyone, both educationally and socially. The major theme for the meeting is the interactive relationship of ultrasound with clinical medicine. Discover how your images and practice influence direct patient care. Try out your knowledge with the "Case of the Day" quiz. An international faculty has been invited with representation from most continents of the world to provide you with a wide platform of knowledge and opinion. The invited faculty will be ably supported with local speakers to create an exciting innovative scientific program. The Nuchal Translucency Course and Skills Development Day will be held concurrently on Thursday September 4, 2003. The Skills Development Day has proven to be very popular and the sessions will focus on the practical application of ultrasound in clinical practice.
The Meeting will be held at the Burswood International Resort Casino and Convention Centre, which has very recently undergone a major upgrade of convention and hotel facilities to create an excellent venue. For those with a penchant for golf there is an excellent golf course attached to the Resort complex. Try your luck on the Casino's main gaming floor!
So, Come West! Bring your family. Enjoy the knowledge, the Meeting facilities, the beautiful springtime weather and the magnificent wildflowers of Western Australia.

PRESIDENT'S WELCOME MESSAGE
It is my pleasure to invite you to the 33rd Annual Scientific Meeting for ASUM to be held at Burswood Convention Centre in Perth, Western Australia. The local organising committee has devised an interesting and informative program incorporating our international and national speakers. ASUM extends its gratitude once again to our sponsors for their support. ASUM will be hosting a special plenary session to promote the objectives of the ASUM Asia-Link Program to encourage continued co-operation in the pursuit of high standards of practice of ultrasound in medicine in the Asia-Pacific region. We have also developed effective academic links with other Asian countries and I anticipate a great deal of interest and opportunities in developing such international co-operative efforts in our geographic region. ASUM shares a common goal of establishing high standards for safe and effective use of ultrasound in medicine. I look forward to seeing many delegates and their families from Australia, New Zealand and overseas take the opportunity to attend this Meeting in the wonderful city of Perth, Western Australia.
