  • Credentialing is the new front line in clinical governance for health care professionals. It is more than an educational qualification. It goes beyond statutory regulation that is primarily to safeguard the public interest. It defines and implements professional standards and codes of practice through peer review, re-affirming quality care and public confidence. The Credential for Practice Program (CPP) has a comprehensive range of evaluative mechanisms embedded within 9 essential criteria. From a distance it appears complex - If it were simple and unchallenging, it would not count for much. The Federal Government have endorsed the program, requiring practice nurses to be credentialed to qualify for Medicare re-imbursement for GP based mental health services. Once familiar, it's usefulness is apparent and with just a little guidance to get you started, it is surprisingly reasonable and straight forward. This is the next generation of a series of workshops since development, to help nurses recognise and establish their credentials. From RN to Mental Health Nurse (Primary, public and private mental health workforces) - This is a practical look at the application, how to complete it, how to meet the criteria. We recommend participants download the application and evidence based record from the website and examine these beforehand. All workshop tools will be provided - Bring your diary and we will help you do the rest.
