Mental Health at the Centre

The world-wide burden of mental health problems and mental illness continues to be underestimated and often under-resourced. Although it is acknowledged that a holistic approach to primary health care is essential, Mental Health promotion and illness prevention still tend to take second place to physical issues. How can we advance a truly holistic approach?

All aspects of mental health service delivery throughout the world are severely affected by lack of specialist mental health professionals. What initial education strategies and ongoing professional development should we be exploring?

In Australia and elsewhere, remote and rural populations especially are at high risk from the damage that isolation and associated social deprivation bring. What service delivery options are available?
