Central TAFE, Western Australia

Central TAFE is a leader in Vocational Education and Training in Australia. It is one of the largest TAFE colleges in Western Australia, with its roots going back one hundred years to the days of Perth Technical College, Western Australia's original TAFE institution.

Some 16,000 students including 10,000 part-time students are enrolled at Central TAFE, together with a recruitment of over 1000 international students.

Some of Central TAFE's strengths include:

  • Articulation of award courses with Universities
  • The acceptance by industry of its students' graduates. Graduate destination surveys show almost 71% of graduates find employment in their chosen field within three months of graduation - in fact students are offered employment by industry before course completion.
  • The acceptance of our courses by our students. The 2000 survey indicated 93% of the students would recommend their course to a friend.
  • Strong academic leadership with active participation in industry and university partnerships to create a dynamic and innovative training environment.
  • Our academic Staff. Central employs more than 1200 academic staff, which includes 800 part-time lecturers. All academic staff are appointed based on their industry experience and academic qualifications.
