Aims
To discuss the role of the media as a tool to improve the quality and safety of our health services.

Objectives
To clarify the factors that influence the way a media outlet deals with reports and a health story.

To critically assess examples of where media coverage has delivered both constructive and destructive results from a safety and quality perspective.

To build a better mutual understanding between media professionals, health professionals and the public about their different roles and priorities.

To provide the opportunity for a lively interactive session with plenty of time for questions and for comments.
