Institute for Sustainable Water Resources

The Institute for Sustainable Water Resources is a centre of excellence, for research, teaching and postgraduate training, in areas related to the sustainable management of water resources. Its aim is to conduct research which is of both national and international importance. The Institute brings together relevant expertise from across the Faculty of Engineering, with the aim of enhancing collaboration to deliver innovative new research, teaching and postgraduate training of excellence.

Engineers Australia

Since 1919, Engineers Australia has provided the national focus for the development of all aspects of engineering as well as representing the interests of engineers and the communities they serve.

The Institution of Engineers Australia, as it was known until the beginning of the new century, was first established in 1919 and was granted a Royal Charter in 1938. It now operates within the terms of the Supplemental Royal Charter granted in 1993.

International Water Association

The International Water Association (IWA) is a global network of water professionals, spanning the continuum between research and practice and covering all facets of the water cycle.

Through IWA, members collaborate to lead the development of effective and sustainable approaches to water management throughout the world. IWA creates value and drives the advancement of both the science and best practice of water management in cooperation with other similar international efforts.

The ultimate strength of IWA lies in the professional and geographic diversity of its membership that includes academic researchers and research centres, utilities, consultants, regulators, industrial water users and water equipment manufacturers. IWA members from each of these communities represent the leading edge in their fields of specialty, and together are building new frontiers in global water management through interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration.

IWA and its members are committed to furthering sustainable and holistic resource management and service provision, built on the concept of the complete water cycle.

Stormwater Industry Association

Stormwater Industry Association links the diverse and multi-disciplinary interests of all Australian stakeholders of the Stormwater Industry and represents them at all national forums.

Stormwater Industry Association promotes innovative and sustainable practice technologies, standards and policies that minimise adverse environmental, social and economic impacts. The SIA also facilitates an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of agencies and partners working to improve the management of our natural and built stormwater systems, provides an advisory and reference service for the industry and promotes the concept that stormwater is a resource.

The national activities of SIA are supported by incorporated state based associations that enable local practitioners and the broad community to learn about available stormwater management and quality technologies, provide a platform which encourages interaction between the multiplicity of disciplines and parties engaged in our industry and encourage the development and understanding of new technologies. The state SIAs also provide opportunities for all interested practitioners and organisations to network within and across disciplines and to influence stormwater policy, legislation and industry guidelines at local and national levels.
