Singapore - Your Host City

Situated at one of the most important crossroads of the world, Singapore is truly a place where East and West come together. Here you will find Chinese, Indian and Malay communities living harmoniously together, their long established cultures forming a unique backdrop to a clean and modern garden city.

With its strategic location, superb infrastructure and excellent facilities, Singapore is considered by many as an excellent destination for meetings, conferences and exhibitions as well as a "must-see" tourist destination. Getting around is incredibly easy, comfortable and safe, either on the modern Mass Rapid Transit system or in one of the many inexpensive buses or taxis.

Contrary to its island status, it could take days, some would say weeks, to fully appreciate what Singapore has to offer. From theme attractions to nature parks to off-shore islands, landmarks, museums and places of worship, Singapore is a destination that can't wait to be discovered!

Health

Statement Released in 2003 by Singapore Tourism Board (STB) Singapore continues to be vigilant against any outbreak of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), amid speculation that the virus could make a comeback toward the end of 2003, during the northern winter months.

Strong precautionary measures are in place to handle any recurrence of the SARS virus and temperature screening will continue to facilitate early detection at all entry points into Singapore.

Visitors can rest assured that appropriate levels of precautionary measures are also in place at hotels, tourist attractions, food and beverage establishments and healthcare institutions to safeguard their health and safety.

The Ministry of Health continues to monitor the global SARS situation and, should the virus resurface, visitors can count on the Singapore government to alert the relevant authorities to activate the necessary security and health controls.

There is no travel alert issued by the World Health Organisation against travel to Singapore. And as always, STB will continue to disseminate timely and accurate information to visitors on the SARS situation in Singapore.

For more information on the actions taken by the Singapore authorities with regard to the new SARS case in Taiwan (as reported on 17 Dec., 2003) please
